Sugarcane production factors

Yield is the result of a combination of climate, soil, production technology and management and the highest yields are obtained when a given variety is grown in its ideal production environment, where the soil has the most appropriate physical, chemical and biological properties.

Sugarcane's agricultural yield is measured in terms of tonnes of sugar produced per unit area (tonnes of cane per hectare). More recently, productivity has also been measured in terms of sugar produced per hectare.

Pest and weed control are also extremely important in preventing yield reduction.
