The market grows with renewable energy confidence

The worldwide sugarcane production grew more than 30% in the 90’s, increasing from 968 million tonnes in 1990 to current 1.3 billion tonnes.

Brazil is worldwide leader in sugar and ethanol exports and offers the lowest production cost for both. Nevertheless, exports potential would be even higher if developed countries’ protectionist policies were altered.

Approximately 85% of the sugar and ethanol Brazilian production is concentrated in the mid-southern region of the country, where COSAN is installed. This region shows higher agricultural productivity due to investments in research and technology.
