Sales and Distribution In 2008 fiscal year, COSAN’s ethanol net sales amounted to R$1,119.1 million. The majority of its ethanol production is used to supply the domestic market. In 2007, its ethanol net sales in the domestic market amounted to R$ 888.2 million, with more than 1 billion liters sold, representing growth of 33.4% over 2006. COSAN exported in 2008, 415.5 million liters of ethanol, mainly for industrial use. Although ethanol is mainly sold in Brazil, COSAN believes in the potential of such fuel in the international market, as well as in the worldwide trend to adopting cleaner and renewable energy and fuel sources, as well as in the higher utilization of flex fuel vehicles.
